In April 2025, I had the honor of being a guest on the Christian Faith Publishing Podcast to talk about my very first book, Navigating the Health Care System as a Dizzy Patient. In this blog, I will share with you what I shared on that podcast interview.

I’ve been a physical therapist for more than 25 years. Since 2006, I’ve specialized in helping people with dizziness and vertigo. Over the years, I’ve seen so many patients struggle to find effective care.

That’s why I finally decided to write a comprehensive guide for dizzy patients. I want to help them advocate for themselves, navigate the often complicated health care system, and find real answers and relief.

Why I Wrote This Book

The spark for this book really came after a lecture I gave at UCSD in 2017. That talk has now been viewed millions of times online. Since then, people from all over the world have reached out to me for help.

Because I’m licensed as a PT only in California, I can’t provide medical advice to anyone outside of my patient care. That was frustrating for me, because I wanted to help everyone who contacted me.

Writing this book became my solution. It is my way to give people the tools, strategies, education, and hope they need, no matter where they live.

Writing Journey

Even though I’ve written more than 200 blogs across my websites (This site and Vertigo Detective.com), writing a book was a whole new challenge. I am not a writer by trade or by training, but I have a lot to share.

The actual writing flowed easily because I have a wealth of helpful information. But editing? That took me the longest.

From start to finish, it was about three years of work. I’ll never forget the moment I held the first copy in my hands! It felt surreal that the book project was finally complete.

The funniest reaction was from my husband, who opened the box of books. He immediately said, “Whoa, this is a lot thicker than I expected.”

I just laughed and told him, “Don’t worry, you don’t have to read it.”

My Gift Prepared with You in Mind

The best part of publishing this book is finally being able to offer something concrete to the people who reach out to me every day. Before I had the book, I could only share blog posts or short YouTube videos.

Now, I can point people to a comprehensive, easy-to-read guide that isn’t expensive. My book is written in a conversational tone—just like I’m talking to a patient in my office.

This isn’t a textbook full of citations or technical jargon. It’s practical, down-to-earth, and focused on helping people advocate for themselves in real life.

Future Publications

I plan to keep writing—I publish one blog per month on each of my two sites (this blog and VertigoDetective.com). I’m already considering what future books might look like, but for now I have decided to attend Bible College in my free time outside of working with my private patients.

Because this first book is fairly long, I may decide to create shorter booklets that focus on individual topics in the future. Shorter booklets might make the information even more approachable for people who prefer something quick and specific to various sub-topics.

Buy Your Copy of the Book I Wrote for You

Navigating the Health Care System as a Dizzy Patient is now available through Christian Faith Publishing. You can find it on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, iTunes, and in traditional bookstores.

My hope is that this book serves as a roadmap for dizzy patients everywhere—helping them get the care they deserve, prevent frustration, and ultimately find relief.

If you agree with me that you need and deserve more than a bill and a pill, I hope you check out my book! I wrote it for anyone with dizziness or vertigo who cannot work with me in person, for whatever reason.
